On this school visit you will discover the secrets of the Monastery of El Escorial, a complex ordered to be built by King Philip II, the monument that best sums up the ideological and cultural aspirations of the Spanish ‘Golden Age’.
During the school trip to the Monastery of El Escorial you will walk along a marked itinerary through various rooms, including the Patio de Reyes, the Library, the Chapter Rooms, the Pantheon of Infantes and the Pantheon of Kings and Queens, and the Palace of Philip II.
Among other points, the following will be discussed:
- The materials used and their construction tools
- The motivation and impetus that led King Philip II to build the Escorial and why it was built in this precise location.
- The history of the Habsburg dynasty.
- Geometry in the construction of El Escorial
